In July 2024, Professional Pitstop was launched with a mission: to help business owners grow sustainably, avoid common pitfalls, and get the support they often can’t find elsewhere. One year later, with 186 businesses supported, three new consultants onboard, and two brand-new services launched, the journey from start-up to scale has been nothing short of remarkable.

Built from experience, designed to make a difference

Founder Nic Cassley knows first-hand what it’s like to build a business that grows too quickly, and how painful it can be when it collapses. That personal experience is what sparked the creation of Professional Pitstop: a consultancy built not just on qualifications and frameworks, but on real lessons learned.

“I vowed I’d support other people in the same position,” Nic explains. “Whether they’re just starting out, scaling fast, or in crisis, they need someone to walk with them, someone who gets it.”

Over the past 12 months, Professional Pitstop has worked with 186 SMEs, thanks in part to a contract with Cumbria LEP. This support has included HR advice, business planning, marketing, recruitment, and operational guidance.

In its first year, Professional Pitstop didn’t just grow, it evolved. Two new arms of the business were launched to meet emerging needs:

Precision Hire – Ethical, affordable recruitment for SMEs

Finding the right people is a growing headache for many businesses. Precision Hire offers affordable, hands-on recruitment support, with rates well below the industry standard, just 12–15% for existing clients.

With decades of experience in the third sector, Nic and her team also launched Community Pitstop, a service tailored to charities and community organisations.

“Too many businesses fall foul of things they simply didn’t know,” says Nic. “Our role is to take away the headache so owners can focus on what they do best.”
